Mention in the Calgary Herald

This morning I got a Google Web Alert notifying me that we got a mention in the Calgary Herald. There was an article about the come-back of reusable diapers http://www.leaderpost.com/story_print.html?id=2272059

It has some great tips for choosing a cloth diaper. Unfortunately the information on disposable diapers was a little outdated. While it was correct in pointing out the dangers of many of the “mainstream” disposables such as perfumes, chemicals and plastics, and the depletion of forests for their production, many of the new “eco-friendly” disposables are totally natural (no chemicals, dyes, perfumes, or plastic), can be composted (the wet ones), and are made from wood pulp from sustainable tree plantings (tree farms). Interesting fact is that the world’s first FULLY compostable diapers has just been introduced by Canadian company, Broody Chick. We are proud to carry their amazing product that is even packaged in recycled cardboard instead of plastic. Check them out.

Another thing was that it mentioned a mom that uses the President’s Choice Green Diapers for night time and at daycare. That mother may be interested in reading my blog post about Presidents Choice “green” products. While I didn’t comment on their diapers, I invite anyone to read the label very closely. It mentions that the diapers are moving towards being green. They are no where near the quality of the diapers that we carry. They are only partially green. Basically, you get what you pay for!

Thanks Herald for the mention as a resource on this wonderful movement toward having children with smaller eco-footprints!
