Better Baby Bums has made the decision to bid adieu to gDiapers. As we strive to live up to our goals of offering you, our wonderful customers, the best products at the best prices possible we have decided that gDiapers no longer have a place on our virtual shelves. We will be introducing a fantastic new line of diapers (from a Victoria-based company!!!) in the next few weeks but need to clear out some room first. For all of you loyal gDiapers fans this would be a great opportunity to stock up on the brand that you so know and love. That is why we are offering you our starter kits and refills at 35% off! SAY IT AIN’T SO! *sob* You were one of the only Canadian companies offering the g diapers and I JUST found you! I have mad glove but not for their shipping costs. Any idea where else in Canada I can find them for such great prices?
We appreciate that gDiapers do have a loyal following in Canada but have made the executive decision to discontinue carrying this brand. gDiapers has recently undergone some changes in their packaging and have raised their prices and lowered their refill quantities as a result. We found that this was pushing the prices to a point that would be very undesirable to many of our Better Baby Bums families. In addition, we could never really get our mind around the benefits of this hybrid-style diaper. For more details, please check out our previous blog post on gDiapers. Jen recently made a switch back to mostly cloth and I too am becoming a hybrid diaper-er, meaning that I switch back and forth between cloth and biodegradable disposable. This offers the most convenience and flexibility and lightens the environmental load of using only disposables.
Oh no!!! I love gdiapers because of the biodegradable disposable inserts. Cloth takes too much energy and water to wash. Is this new Victoria based company offering a disposable insert too? When will it be available, can you tell me the brand?
The brand is Broody Chick which is now available on our site under “diapers” at http://www.betterbabybums.com Currently they do not offer a disposable insert. I will ask them whether they plan too though as I know that they are becoming increasingly popular for people that use cloth diapers. Broody Chick diapers are fully compostable. I, myself, use the Sweet Pea, one-size-fits-all, pocket diapers. They are very easy to wash and you can reuse them as the insert is so absorbent that the fleece against baby’s skin is dry after they wet the diaper, you simply put a new insert in and you’re good to go. I don’t think they result in much more washing than the g’s do. May be worth a try. I wish we could continue to offer the g’s but as Corina mentioned in a similar post, they are cost prohibitive.
